Johnny Grits, Umu and Nan's Sushi 54 Cited By Health Inspectors
Missing floor tiles, food stored on floor, and cheese held at unsafe temperatures are some of the violations found at Pasco restaurants.
PASCO COUNTY, FL – Missing floor tiles, food stored on floor, and cheese held at unsafe temperatures are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found last week at Pasco County restaurants.
Johnny Grits, 5749 Main St., New Port Richey, was cited for 16 violations on Feb. 22, including equipment in poor repair; floor tiles missing in kitchen; oven hood soiled with grease; and cold food held out at unsafe temperatures, including cheddar cheese, sausage and chopped ham.
Umu, 2653 Bruce B Downs Blvd #121, Wesley Chapel, was cited for 10 violations on Feb. 21, including hot food held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit; chicken and fish thawing on counter instead of refrigerator; and dish machine chlorine sanitizer not at proper minimum strength.

Nam's Sushi 54, 7119 State Road 54, New Port Richey, was cited for 24 violations on Feb. 18, including an open can of energy drink on shelves over reach-in cooler; food stored on floor; menu does not identify which items contain raw or undercooked animal foods covered by consumer advisory; and accumulation of debris on exterior and interior of silverware washing machine.
Bonsai Sushi, 1652 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Wesley Chapel, was cited for 27 violations on Feb. 14, including food stored on floor at sushi bar; container of medicine improperly stored over food in the kitchen; raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food on cook line; and ceiling tiles/vents soiled with accumulated food debris, grease or mold-like substance.in kitchen.

In the last 30 days, 50 Pasco County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 99 restaurants aced the first visit.
The inspectors made note of five Pasco County restaurants that passed inspections without any violations in the past two weeks: Dunkin Donuts, 9322 State Road 52, Suite 3, Hudson; Subs N More Too, 12100 Cobblestone Dr Ste 4, Hudson; The Southern Weddding Company, 36732 Trilby Rd, Dade City; Like In Paris, 8216 State Road 52, Hudson; and Blasys, 8216 SR 52, Hudson.
