Nightly Ramp Closings Announced for Veterans Expressway

Getting around town on the Veterans Expressway might be a little trickier for Westchase motorists this week as Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise has announced more upcoming ramp closings.

The nighttime closings and accompanying detours begin Monday, Aug. 26 and will continue through Friday morning. The hours of the closings are from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily.

The closings are part of ongoing construction on the toll road.

Here’s what motorists can expect:

Aug. 26-27

• The northbound on-ramp at Hutchison Road will be closed. Drivers should detour at Wilcox to Lakeshore and get on at northbound Van Dyke Road.
• The southbound off-ramp will be closed. Drivers can take the Van Dyke Road off ramp instead.

Aug. 28-29

• Gunn Highway’s northbound on-ramp will close. The detour here is Gunn Highway to Ehrlich Road.
• The southbound off-ramp on Gunn will also be closed. Drivers can get off on Ehrlich to access Gunn Highway.
