Olympic Medalist Michael Phelps Appears At Crystal Lagoon Opening

Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was on hand Saturday, April 28, for the grand openings of the nation's first Crystal Lagoon.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL -- Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was on hand Saturday, April 28, for the grand openings of the nation's first Crystal Lagoon in Wesley Chapel.

Crystal Lagoons and Metro Development Group unveiled the highly anticipated project at the 2,000-home Epperson development, about three miles north of State Road 54 at the corner of Curley and Overpass roads

Phelps is a global ambassador for Crystal Lagoons, which debuted in the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Chile, and are quickly becoming a hot development feature in the United States.

The crystal-clear bodies of water are clarified using a patented ultrasonic filtration technology.

The lagoons, surrounded by white sand beaches, provide a scenic focus as well as recreational opportunities.

The Epperson Lagoon has 7.5 acres of crystal-clear water where residents can swim, kayak, paddle board and sail a small boat.

The Crystal Lagoon also has an entertainment plaza in addition to the beach area.

The grand opening on Saturday featured water ski shows, fly-boarding performances and even mermaids in the lagoon. It also included live music and food trucks.

Now under construction on 7,800 acres between Wesley Chapel and San Antonio on the former Epperson Ranch, when built out, the development will have 37,000 homes and 12 million square feet of commercial and office development.

The Crystal Lagoon isn't the only innovative feature of the development, which will include the communities of Epperson and Mirada.

Metro Development Group is creating the first residential community with 1 Gigabit of speed in every home and businesses, allowing for the creation of Smart Homes and Smart Businesses throughout the community.
