Pasco County To Host 2016 Fall Family Fishing Festival
The 19th annual celebration features fishing instruction at Withlacoochee River Park.

DADE CITY, FL – For the 19th straight year, Pasco County will host a free event that offers instruction in fishing the local waters – and also provides a day of entertainment.
The 2016 Pasco County Fall Family Fishing Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Withlacoochee River Park, 12449 Withlacoochee River Blvd in Dade City.
Aside from providing a free lunch, the first 300 children 17 and younger will receive a free rod-and-reel combination.

The event was established to teach area children proper fishing techniques and the importance of being stewards of Florida’s freshwater ecosystems.
“(The Fall Family Fishing Festival) increases the notion of quality family time spent outdoors,” said Kimberly Miller, a recreation leader with Pasco County.

The festival will feature hands-on instructions in baiting, casting, knot-tying, tackle selection, Florida fishing rules, fish identification and more. Florida Fish and Wildlife staff along with Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department staff will be providing the instruction.
The event will also feature wildlife encounters provided by the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary and Wild Transport. There will also be carnival games, crafts and numerous vendors.
