Photo: Gopher Turtle Turned Church Mascot

We told you earlier this week about the gopher turtle who has taken up residence at Harvester United Methodist Church. Well now we have a photo of the unofficial church mascot.

Land O' Lakes Patch Facebook reader Phyllis Phillips first told us about the critter.

Phillips left this message on our page earlier this week: 

"A gopher turtle has taken up residence and is building her nest next to the front of the church. Since they are an endangered species, she cannot be moved. We are embracing her and making it a teachable event. There is a sign marking the nest with the expected "hatch" date. The next step is to find a name for our gopher turtle."

Phillips later sent us this photo of the turtle.
