Rugged Maniac Race Returns to Dade City April 23
Day-long festival event is highlighted by obstacle course race.
DADE CITY, FL – Fear not: The Rugged Maniacs who plan to converge on Dade City next weekend are aiming only to take over Little Everglades Ranch to attack an obstacle course.
One of the nation’s largest obstacle race companies, Rugged Maniac will bring back its Florida race to Little Everglades Ranch, 17951 Hamilton Road, on Saturday, April 23 at 9:45 a.m.
Participants from across the region will take on 25 obstacles spread along a 3.1-mile off-road course, which includes underground tunnels, warped walls, balance beams, trampolines, and 50-foot water slide. Despite the challenging obstacles, Rugged Maniac bills itself as a fun and physical activity for people of nearly any fitness level. Past participants have ranged in age from 14 (the minimum age for participation) to 80.

The company gained fame in 2012 when billionaire Mark Cuban invested $1.75 million in Rugged Maniacs during the 2012 season of Shark Tank.
“Rugged Maniac continues to be one of my most successful investments,” Cuban said. “Their focus on creating an amazing experience for their participants has helped them rise to the top of the obstacle race industry.”
The investment helped Rugged Manic build bigger obstacles, resulting in a 30 percent increase in attendance in 2015.
“We’ve expected tremendous growth since our inception in 2010 thanks to our financial drive to make sure our Maniacs have the best experience imaginable at our events,” said Rugged Maniac COO Rob Dickens.”
Dickens also said his company prides itself in striving to eliminate all lines at their events, whether it’s toilets, food trucks or on the course.
“More importantly, we don’t charge ‘festival’ prices for food and beer,” he said. “You’ll pay the same at Rugged Maniac as you would at a local restaurant. Basically, we treat our Maniacs the way we’d want to be treated, and they show their appreciation by coming back year after year.”
