Venom Chopper Bar, Capri Pizza Cited By Health Inspectors

Flies found in bar area and a hole under a handwash sink are a few of the violations found recently in Pasco County restaurants.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – Flies found in bar area and a hole under a handwash sink are some of the violations that Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspectors found recently in Pasco County.

Overtime Sports Bar & Grill, 7736 Sr 52, Hudson, was cited for six violations on May 10, including five small flies in bar area; raw beef stored over cheese sauce, moved to bottom; and reuse of single-use articles (BBQ sauce bottlers used for ketchup).

Capri Pizza & More, 7825 Gall Blvd, Zephyrhills, was cited for 14 violations on May 8, including proof of required state-approved employee training not available for some employees; reach-in cooler gasket torn/in disrepair; ready-to-eat food not properly date marked (pizza sauce, cooked chicken).

Booming Express, 5012 U.S. 19 N, New Port Richey, was cited for 29 violations on May 8, including cutting board with cut marks and no longer cleanable; exhaust system operated with filters removed, no means to capture grease and/or condensation to prevent dripping (owner is cleaning them, advised to put back as soon as possible); food stored on floor (bulk oil, boullion); food storage container lid cracked or broken; and knives stored in cracks between pieces of equipment.

Venom Custom Chopper Bar & Grill, 7430 U.S. Hwy 19, New Port Richey, was cited for 10 violations on May 8, including hole under handwash sink in kitchen; gaskets with slimy/mold-like buildup in two coolers; and manager lacking proof of food manager certification.

In the last 30 days, 69 Pasco County restaurants did not pass the first inspection while 61 restaurants aced the first visit.

The inspectors made note of six Pasco County restaurants that passed inspections without any violations in the past month: Lillie Bells BBQ, 6206 U.S. 19, New Port Richey; Farmhouse Market & Cafe, 14124 5 St., Dade City; Riddle On The Griddle, 3028 Roxbury Drive, Holiday; Royal Ox Food & Catering South, 3939 Land O' Lakes Blvd., Land O' Lakes; Gizzy's, 6207 Appomattox Drive, Holiday; and Tacos Leon, 37007 Lock St., Dade City.
