Beaches to Visit in Florida
Raquel Alicia Teran Hunter showcases some of Florida's most popular beaches.

There is a reason that Florida was given the nickname Sunshine State. There are many reasons that thousands of tourists flock there all year long and why so many people decide to relocate there permanently. In addition to the attractions, the warm climate and a plethora of stunning beaches are the main draws. Whether you’re a loving couple seeking a romantic getaway, or a family looking to entertain people of all ages, Florida beaches truly have something for everyone.
Clearwater Beach ranks as the #1 beach in the United States according to TripAdvisor for good reason. People routinely comment on the soft, silky white sand, and the calm waters enable watersports like jet-skiing, parasailing, and stand-up paddleboarding. The impressively substantial boardwalk provides the perfect backdrop for land sports like cycling and rollerblading. The dining choices are limitless, with fresh seafood being a huge favorite. In the evening, Pier 60 hosts a cavalcade of street performers and vendors, not to mention a nightly popup outdoor cinema.
Key West is another highly rated destination. As the southernmost point in the U.S, it draws countless visitors all year long and is famous for its nightlife energy, watersports, architecture, historic landmarks, and of course its beaches. Fort Zachary Taylor State Park is known as Key West’s best beach. Because fishing is permitted, people can catch their own food and then have a cookout at one of the many picnic spots at the park. Hiking is also a popular activity, and visitors frequent the many wooded nature trails. Because of the availability of shaded paths, many people enjoy leisurely walks and bike rides in comfort.

South Beach is home to countless hotels and bars and is famous for its nightlife. Some people have even referred to it as an adult playground. For the architecture aficionados, South Beach serves up a unique blend of Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival, and Miami Modern (MiMo). Even the lifeguard stands are a sight to behold. People love the long stretches of man-made beach that are perfect for jogging or sunbathing or just viewing the city at night before going out on the town.
Siesta Key is an island that is located off the coast of Sarasota, Florida. Perfect for families, there are plenty of activities to do that range in complexity, from shell collecting and picnicking to catamaran sailing and kayaking. For couples, there are plenty of romantic options as well, such as candlelit restaurants and rental cottages.
