Boaters Rescued Near Haulover Inlet

Three people had to be rescued Sunday night when their boat began taking on water about a mile off shore from Haulover Inlet.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Three people had to be rescued Sunday night when their boat began taking on water about a mile off shore from Haulover Inlet.

Lt. Kirsten Miller of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the incident happened around 6 p.m. just north of the inlet. She said that Fireboat 21 was assisted by another boater in the rescue.

"When the fireboat located the sinking vessel, a Good Samaritan boat was assisting the persons on this sinking boat," Miller said. "The three boaters were brought onto the fireboat uninjured and then taken back to shore."
