Christmas Eve Proposal Seemed Like Practical Joke

MIAMI, FL — It may have been the stuffed Scooby she was cradling or the fact that she was waiting to be served in the ice cream line at Santa's Enchanted Forest on Christmas Eve. But it was more likely that the wave of disbelief that swept over Chris Morley's girlfriend had more to do with the Memphis defensive back's penchant for practical jokes. This time the joke was on him, or at least the awkward moment.

Despite taking a knee and extending a jewelry box in the Miami amusement park's ice cream line, Morley's future bride was not having any of it. She could be heard at least three times on cellphone video questioning Morley's sincerity.

"Why is he fooling me right now," she asked at one point. "I don't like jokes y'all."

Fortunately, as Morley's real-life game clock ticked down, his girlfriend's disbelief melted away and she was overcome with tears.
