MIAMI, FL — The U.S. Coast Guard seized about 33 pounds of cocaine earlier this week along the Miami River from a boat not so aptly named La Temperance, which means the abstinence from alcoholic drink.
Monday's operation was conducted jointly by the Coast Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers.
"The motor vessel was boarded due to the last port of call and suspected fraudulent mariner credentials," Coast Guard officials said. "While the law enforcement teams inspected common spaces on the vessel, a CBP K-9 unit detected and found 20 packages of cocaine."
