Coast Guard Sets Up 'Safety Zone' Ahead of Air Show

The Coast Guard 'safety zone' will be in effect along Miami Beach from 8:30 a.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — The U.S. Coast Guard has established a "safety zone" ahead of the Air and Sea Show scheduled to take place along Miami Beach over Memorial Day Weekend. Boaters are prohibited from sailing in the waters approximately a half mile east of Collins Park, then directly south approximately three miles to the government cut north jetty, west to the shoreline South Pointe Park and north along the shoreline to Collins Park. The security measures will be in effect from 8:30 a.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Sunday.

"No vessel or person will be permitted to enter the zone without obtaining permission from the caption of the Port Miami or a designated representative," according to the Coast Guard. (Sign up for our free Daily Newsletters and Breaking News Alerts for the Miami Beach Patch.)

Sea events take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by air events from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Read more about the Air and Sea Show.
