Father Of Patriots' Running Back Killed In South Florida
A Miami-Dade police captain whose son is a star running back for the New England Patriots was killed Sunday in a fiery crash.

COOPER CITY, FL — A Miami-Dade police captain whose son is a star running back for the New England Patriots was remembered by Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo "Freddy" Ramirez III as legendary quarterback Tom Brady took time to offer words of comfort for Capt. Tyrone White's grieving son.
White was killed Sunday in a fiery crash in Broward County hours before his son, James White, was scheduled to take the field in Seattle for NBC's "Sunday Night Football" game between the Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks
The Broward Sheriff's Office said the off-duty crash between two vehicles occurred around 1 p.m. in the 11800 block of Griffin Road in Cooper City.

"One vehicle was flipped over and the other on fire," a BSO spokesperson said. "BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel provided medical assistance to the victims and extinguished the fire in the vehicle. BSO Air Rescue responded and assisted in transporting two of the three victims."
Capt. White, 59, was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the spokesperson for the sheriff's office. The officer's wife, Lisa, was in critical condition as of Monday at Memorial Regional Hospital, where she was taken by helicopter.

Chamberlin was also taken to Memorial Regional with non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff's office said Lisa White was making a left turn onto Southwest 118th Avenue with her husband in a gray 2014 Volkswagen Passat when they were struck by a white 2018 Subaru WRX.
The Volkswagen was being driven east on Griffin Road by thirty-two-year-old Daniel Chamberlin of Cooper City as the Whites headed west on Griffin Road.
"Chamberlin’s vehicle struck the passenger side of White’s vehicle," according to the sheriff's office. "After striking the vehicle in a T-boning style crash, Chamberlin’s Subaru was redirected and struck a traffic control box and came to a complete stop in the grass swale."
The Whites' Volkswagen slid sideways, struck the curb and rolled over onto its side, before coming to a stop on its roof along the sidewalk.
"Witnesses on scene assisted with extracting Chamberlin from his Subaru, as the engine compartment caught on fire," the sheriff's office said. "Additional witnesses tended to the Whites who were trapped in their Volkswagen and needed fire rescue personnel to extract them."
The running back was listed by the Patriots as inactive for the Sunday night game in which the Seahawks defeated the Patriots 35 t0 30.
Brady, who now plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, said he was heartbroken to learn of the tragedy involving the parents of his "great friend and forever teammate" and went on to say what a great son they raised.
"There are few people that come into your life that do everything the right way," Brady said on social media. "James is one of them. Kind, gentle, loving, fiercely competitive and hardworking. His parents raised an amazing son. And we are all grieving with James as he is going through this difficult time. Love you my friend."
White's New England teammates sent their love from CenturyLink Field via social media.
