3 Injured In Shooting At Aventura Mall Near Miami: Reports
Reports of shots fired at the Miami-area mall came in just before 4 p.m. Saturday. Reports say a suspect is in custody.
AVENTURA, FL — At least three people were injured Saturday during a shooting at Aventura Mall near Miami, according to reports citing Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials.
Police responded to reports of gunfire at the mall shortly before 4 p.m., according to Miami-based ABC affiliate WPLG. Shoppers and employees were asked to shelter in stores as police searched for a possible shooter.
Authorities told the Miami Herald that a suspect has been taken into custody.

Roberto Ferrera, a 47-year-old house painter, was looking for Mother's Day gifts at Macy's when shots were fired, he told the Herald.
“It makes you feel like you aren’t safe,” he told the newspaper. “This is someplace you bring your family too. We’re living in a crazy world now.”

All mall patrons and employees have been escorted off of the property, Aventura police tweeted. The mall has been closed until further notice.

This is the second time in a year a shooting has taken place at Aventura Mall.
In May 2020, a man opened fire on two other men after a fight inside the Nordstrom store. Both victims were wounded, and the shooter was charged with two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, the Herald reported.
