Hurricanes Rank 13th In Final AP College Poll

The Miami Hurricanes finished the 2017 season ranked 13th in the nation, according to AP's final college football poll of the season.

MIAMI, FL — After winning their first 10 games of the season and going to both the ACC championship game, and the Orange Bowl, the Miami Hurricanes finished 2017 with a 13th place ranking, according to the final Associated Press college football poll released on Tuesday. The ranking capped off a memorable season for the University of Miami squad in which Head Coach Mark Richt was named 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Coach of the Year.

Former University of Miami star player Ed Reed also was selected for induction into the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2018 on Monday. He became only the eighth Miami player and 11th Hurricane overall to be enshrined into the College Football Hall of Fame.

The Hurricanes scored impressive wins in 2017 over both Notre Dame and Virginia Tech but fell in key games against Pittsburgh, Clemson and Wisconsin to finish the season with a 10-3 record on the year.

The season will also be remembered as the year that marked the introduction of the turnover chain, a 3-foot long, 10-karat gold Cuban link necklace that weighs 5-and-a-half pounds. It is given to defensive players who recover fumbles or interceptions.

In the finest tradition of Miami bling, the turnover chain features a large "U" covered with orange and green saphires.
