Miami Has Most Veterinarians Of Any US City

Miami has more vets per person than any of the 100 largest cities in the US, according to a new study by personal finance website WalletHub.

MIAMI, FL — If you aren't happy with your pet's veterinarian, you couldn't have picked a better city to live in. Miami has more vets per person than any of the 100 largest cities in America, according to a new study by personal finance website WalletHub. Miami had 88 times as many vets as Newark, New Jersey, the city with the lowest number of veterinarians per person.

But even with the most vets, Miami only ranked as the 29th most pet friendly city in America, according to the WalletHub study.

"With National Homeless Animals Day approaching and over 85 million U.S. pet-owning households projected to spend $72 billion this year, the personal finance website WalletHub today released an in-depth report on 2018’s Most Pet-Friendly Cities," the website penned Tuesday. "In order to determine where Americans’ animal companions can enjoy the best quality of life without breaking the bank, WalletHub compared the creature-friendliness of the 100 largest cities across 24 key metrics."

Scottsdale, Arizona topped the list of the most pet-friendly cities followed by Orlando, San Diego, Austin and Phoenix. The least pet-friendly cities included Honolulu, Buffalo and Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The website based its findings on the number of pet businesses, dog-friendly restaurants, cost of dog insurance premiums and the number of dog parks among other factors.
