Need A Ride To The Polls? Miami Voters Have Options

Election Day voters have several options for free or discounted rides to the polls in Miami-Dade County. Learn how you can catch a ride.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY — If you want to cast your vote on Election Day but you’re having trouble finding a ride to the polls, don’t fret. Various organizations and businesses are offering free rides for voters to polling locations Tuesday. Here are a few of your options.

Head to the polls in style. Free limo rides to polling locations are available for older voters in several American cities, including Miami. These rides are made available as part of the “Limo to the Polls” initiative, a partnership between the National Funeral Directors & Morticians Association and the National Urban League. Register for a ride online here.

When We All Vote has donated $101,000 to make rides through Lyft, a ride-share app, free in four cities: Miami, Charlotte, Atlanta and Philadelphia. Simply use the code “WWAV” when checking out.

Plus1Vote will also cover Lyft rides up to $20 round trip in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties. Use the code "Plus1VoteFL" when checking out.

Voto Latino is also providing a free ride to the polls through Lyft in select cities, including Miami. It will offer a credit up to $25 for one ride to vote. Use the code “VLF2020."

Nike has also partnered with Lyft to offer up to $10 off one ride. Use the code “Nike2020.”

Beyond this, Lyft is also offering 50 percent off one ride costing up to $10 to anyone traveling to a polling place or ballot dropbox in any city on Election Day. Just use the code “2020VOTE” when checking out. This includes Lyft’s network of scooters, which are only found in certain cities, including Miami. This initiative is a partnership with various organizations, including When We All Vote and Vote.org.

Meanwhile, through its Get Out The Vote initiative, ride-share app Uber will provide discounted rides to the polls on Tuesday. The app has added a poll-finding feature for Election Day and the company will provide 50 percent off round-trip rides for voters, up to $7 each trip.

Bird, an e-scooter rental company available in certain cities, including Miami, will offer free rides on Election Day. Enter the code “VOTE2020” in the Bird app to receive a free ride up to 30 minutes.
