Parkland School Shooter Receives Love Letters, Fan Mail: Report

Nikolas Cruz has received stacks of fan mail, love letters and hundreds of dollars in contributions sent to the Broward County jail

PARKLAND, FL - Nikolas Cruz, the accused Parkland school shooter, has received stacks of fan mail, love letters and hundreds of dollars in contributions sent to the Broward County jail.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel obtained copies of some of the letters that Cruz has received. Some of the letters are from teenage girls and women with photographs inside greeting cards or attached to notebook paper offering friendship. Some of the photographs are suggestive, according to the newspaper. Facebook communities also are being created to talk about how to help the Cruz.

"I reserve the right to care about you, Nikolas!" wrote a Texas woman in a letter addressed to the jail in Fort Lauderdale. The letter was mailed six days after the school shooting that killed 17 students and staff and injured 17 others at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14.

On March 15, a teenager wrote in a letter mailed from Texas: “I’m 18-years-old. I’m a senior in high school. When I saw your picture on the television, something attracted me to you,” she wrote. “Your eyes are beautiful and the freckles on your face make you so handsome.” She added: “I’m really skinny and have 34C sized breasts.” The envelope was covered with hand-drawn hearts and happy faces.

Public Defender Howard Finkelstein, Cruz's lawyer, says his client has received "piles of letters."
