CORAL GABLES, FL — Two teenage boys were arrested on the roof of a Coral Gables home Tuesday after nearby residents told police they spotted them attempting to burglarize their cars. Another person believed to be a teenage girl got away, according to Coral Gables police. The incident happened shortly after 10:30 p.m.

"A K-9 officer on patrol was flagged down at the 1600 block of Columbus Avenue by two residents who discovered subjects in their vehicles, burglarizing them," explained Officer Kelly Denham of the Coral Gables Police Department. "The K-9 officer continued to look for the subjects and was driving by 1429 Sorolla Avenue when he observed a light moving around inside of a vehicle parked at the residence and attempted to approach the three subjects, who were located inside a gray Toyota Sienna."

Denham said that that the trio scattered in different directions.

"A perimeter was established and at that time a homeowner contacted the

1430 Milan Avenue," she said. "Officers responded, observed a ladder leading to the roof and
went onto the roof and placed two male subjects into custody without incident."

The names of the teenagers were being withheld because of their ages. Denham said that they were knwon to law enforcement from previous incidents. "The first male subject is 15-years-old and the second male subject is 14-years-old," Denham expalined. "Both juveniles were transported to the Miami-Dade County Juvenile Assessment Center."

She added that both teenagers were charged with one count of burglary to an occupied structure and one
count of burglary to an unoccupied conveyance.

She said that police were still looking for the female.
