These 13 FL Hospitals Are Among The Best In U.S.: Newsweek

FLORIDA — Several Florida hospitals were ranked among the best in America by Newsweek, with on health-care facility making the list's top 20.

The magazine’s “World’s Best Hospitals” list for 2021 ranked the top hospitals around the world, including in the United States. It’s the third year Newsweek has published the list, for which it partnered with the data firm Statista.

Eight Florida hospitals ranked among the top 200 in the U.S., while another five hospitals were included in the overall list but did not rank among the top 200.

Here’s how Florida hospitals were ranked on the list:

• Mayo Clinic - Jacksonville, No. 20
• Cleveland Clinic - Florida, in Weston, No. 57
• Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, No. 71
• Sarasota Memorial Hospital, No. 122
• St. Joseph's Hospital - BayCare in Tampa, No. 159
• Adventhealth Orlando, No. 171
• Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, No. 185
• Baptist Hospital of Miami, No. 189
• Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, No. 224
• Baptist Medical Center - Beaches in Jacksonville Beach, No. 225
• Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, No. 273
• BayCare - Mease Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin, No. 326
• Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, No. 327

In its methodology, Newsweek explained that it looked at three data sources to compile the rankings: recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys and medical KPIs on hospitals.

These are the top 10 hospitals in the United States, according to Newsweek.

1. Mayo Clinic - Rochester in Rochester, MN
2. Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio
3. Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston
4. The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore
5. Stanford Health Care - Stanford Hospital in Stanford, CA
6. Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles
7. The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY
8. University of Michigan Hospitals - Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, MI
9. Brigham And Women's Hospital in Boston
10. New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell in New York, NY

Hospitals in the U.S. were also recognized for infection prevention if they performed above the national average based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

These nine Florida hospitals were recognized by Newsweek for infection prevention:

Methodology:
The World's Best Hospital ranking lists are based on three data sources: Recommendations from medical experts (doctors, hospitals managers, health care professionals); results from patient surveys; medical KPIs on hospitals.

U.S. hospitals were also awarded as best hospitals for infection prevention if they performed above the national average based on six different measures. This recognition is based on data from Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31. 2019, published by CMS.
