Vaccine Age Limit Lowers To 40 In Miami-Dade Starting March 29

Vaccine eligibility statewide opens to everyone 50 and older starting Monday. Miami-Dade plans to lower it to 40 years old March 29.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — While Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that statewide vaccine eligibility will open to everyone 50 and older starting Monday, Miami-Dade County is already making plans to expand eligibility even further.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava tweeted Friday morning that after vaccine eligibility expands to those 50 and older 50 Monday, the county will offer the vaccine to everyone 40 and older starting March 29.

After that, the age eligibility will be lowered by 10 years each following week, she said.

At a news conference in Tallahassee Friday morning, DeSantis announced the statewide eligibility lowering to 50 years old, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.

“We think we’ve done pretty good this week with 60 to 64, but quite frankly with think that even with current vaccine allotments that opening it up will be good,” he said. “I think the demand has been relatively modest, certainly much more modest than it was at the end of December when we were doing 65 and plus.”
