MIAMI BEACH, FL — Sunny South Florida may be anything but this long holiday weekend but there will still be plenty of events around the Miami area to keep your spirits soaring high, if not dry. Most notably, the National Salute To America's Heroes takes to the skies and seas around Miami Beach come rain or shine. A number of restaurants also plan to mark the holiday with specials.
The air and sea show will go on rain or shine, according to event organizers, who said that military personnel train for all kinds of weather.

"There may be slight delays in the timing of the show due to the weather, which will be determined by the show's producers after careful consideration of safety and the weather conditions," the event's Maria Elles Scott told Patch. "The Music Explosion presented by Hyundai on the Altec Lansing Stage is set from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will take place on Miami Beach even in rain showers, although again there may be a slight delay in performance times."
Meteorologist Chris Fisher of the National Weather Service in Miami told Patch Friday night that the weekend won't be a total washout but it will be very soggy.

"It won't be raining all the time," he said. "There will be breaks in between showers here or there. Unfortunately I can't really give a good time for it."
He said that the Miami area could see four to eight inches of rain by the time we return to work and school. "There's a lot of tropical moisture around the next couple of days," he added.
