Miami Beach Ends Curfew With Party
City officials ended a midnight curfew on Friday the only way you might expect in Miami Beach — with a party.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — City officials ended a midnight curfew on Friday the only way you might expect in Miami Beach — with a party. The "Break The Curfew" was held at Bodega on South beach. Hurricane Irma whipped through Miami Beach on Sunday.
"It is my pleasure to bring you good news," Mayor Philip Levine said in an email to residents on Friday. "Miami Beach's curfew has been lifted. After a citywide effort to quickly bring the city back to normalcy, we are making incredible progress."

Even so, Levine cautioned residents to use caution when moving about the city at night. "There are still isolated areas with minimal lighting and some traffic signals may still be down for a few more days. We ask for you patience as our public work's team continues to remove the remaining debris," the mayor added.
The announcement for Friday's end of curfew party came as the city was launching a coordinated effort and messaging on social media to jump-start the tourism industry, which is the lifeblood of this urban resort. The city also negotiated special under $100 hotel rates for Miami Beach residents this weekend.
