Burglary Suspect Sought In Miami Beach
Miami Beach police were asking people to avoid the area of Lenox Avenue and Alton Road between 10 and 11 Streets.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Miami Beach police were asking people to avoid the area of Lenox Avenue and Alton Road for a time Monday afternoon. Police were searching for a suspect between 10 and 11 Streets.
"Officers looking for a subject of a construction site burglary," Miami Beach police said on social media Monday afternoon.

Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department later said that police received a call of a commercial burglary shortly after noon. The construction site is located at 1300 Monad Terrace.
"A construction worker later located the subject near 10 Street and Lenox Avenue," Rodriguez explained. "The subject and complainant struggled and the subject struck the victim with a hammer."

Rodriguez said that the suspect also threatened the construction worker with a gun.
Miami Beach police establisehd a perimeter for a time Monday from 10 to 11 Streets between Alton Road and Lenox Avenue. A Miami-Dade police helicopter could be seen hovered overhead while officers on the ground searched with dogs.
"The victim is expected to be okay and did not require hospital transport," Rodriguez added. He noted that the suspect was not wearing a shirt and was about 6 feet tall.
