Miami Beach Pop Festival Possible In December
Enrique Iglesias, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga are being discussed as possible headliners of the proposed new event.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Enrique Iglesias, Bruno Mars, Dave Matthews, Elton John, Jimmy Buffett, Juanes, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Lionel Richie and other big names in the entertainment industry are being discussed as possible headliners who might be invited to appear at a proposed new annual Miami Beach Pop Festival. City officials announced on Thursday they are in discussions with ACT Productions over the possible first launch of the event in December of this year. The proposed site is off Ocean Drive along the beach between 5 and 10 Streets.
"The creatives behind the Miami Beach Centennial Celebration in 2015, ACT Productions, approached the city with the idea of launching the first annual Miami Beach Pop Festival this December," the city's Melissa Berthier explained. She told Patch that the city manager must approve all special events.
The likely dates for the first event would be Friday, Dec. 14 through Sunday, Dec. 16. Those dates were selected by the event producers.

Miami favorite Pitbull was not among the possible headliners mentioned, possibly because the new event would be too close to Pitbull's annual New Year's Eve concert in Bayfront Park.
Berthier described the possible event as a celebration of music, art, food and the "diversity of Miami Beach." It would likely feature three separate stages.

“The discussion to launch an event of this caliber in our vibrant city is interesting,” added City Manager Jimmy L. Morales. “We look forward to conducting robust community outreach to determine whether residents and businesses would welcome this opportunity.”
