Miami Cruise Passenger Suffers Medical Emergency
WATCH NOW: First responders remove a patient from a Miami cruise ship off the coast of Miami Beach.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — First responders were called to a medical emergency Thursday night aboard a cruise shop. The call came in at 7:40 pm, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
A spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said that Fireboats 73 and 21 met the cruise boat about three miles off shore.

"Both crews made the trek out to meet the cruise ship and the medical staff tending to an elderly patient," the spokesperson explained.
Between both crews, first responders had seven paramedics along with the ship's nurse to care for the passenger.

"The patient was transported to an area hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment," the spokesperson added.
The cruise passenger was taken to Port of Miami, where they were driven the rest of the way to the hospital.
