Northbound Washington Avenue Traffic Disrupted
The Miami Beach Convention Center is making improvements along Washington Avenue, which is disrupting traffic.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Northbound traffic along busy Washington Avenue will be disrupted for the next three weeks. The contractor for the Miami Beach Convention Center is making improvements on the busy thoroughfare between 17 Street and Dade Boulevard. The facility is undergoing a massive $615 million expansion and upgrade.
Miami Beach city officials said that the contractor will be installing new curbs and gutters, cross walks and performing paving operations along Washington Avenue. The contractor is also planting new trees as work enters the final phase of the project.

Here is how traffic will be affected:
- Travel lanes will be shifted to the west side of the roadway and reduced to one lane in each direction.
- All side streets from Washington Avenue will be closed between 18 Street and 21 Street.
- 18 Street and 19 Street will reopen on weekends.
- Motorists are advised to use Collins Avenue.
- The South Beach Trolley Service will continue operating along northbound Washington Avenue. In the southbound direction, the South Beach Trolley Service will operate along Collins Avenue from 23 Street to 17 Street while 19 street is closed.
- All residential entrances along Washington Avenue will remain open.
City officials have said that they are targeting an August 2018 completion date for the overall work on the Miami Beach Convention Center project.
