Police Searching For Car In Reported Miami Beach Shooting

Miami Beach police said a nearby school lockdown was precautionary. One injured person was located Wednesday morning.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Police in Miami Beach were asking for the public's help in finding a white BMW SUV they said fled from the scene of a reported shooting Wednesday morning near 44th Street and Collins Avenue.

The shooting was reported around 8:30 a.m. As a precaution, schools in the area were placed on lockdown. Police later said authorities are working with area schools to lift the lockdown.

Police said they found one person believed to be a victim in the incident. The person was found near 74th Street.

Police said the victim was treated by the Miami Beach Fire Department for cuts on his or her arm believed to have been caused by shattered glass.

South Beach News later posted a photo on Twitter showing a police presence near an area off Collins Avenue where charter yachts are parked.
