Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am writing to request your support for a project my dad is completing shortly. He is an Army vet and graduate of West Point, Class of '72, as well as a New Tampa resident. As veteran issues are close to his heart, he is raising donations for Fisher House Foundation. Fisher House provides free housing for injured Veterans and their families while undergoing treatment at VA hospitals. Their goal is to have loved ones present as support for the veterans during these difficult times. Having family close by during medical treatments is so important for veterans. Fisher House also has started a scholarship program for military wives and children to support their education goals.
To increase publicity and funding for Fisher House, my dad will be attempting to lift 200 tons of weight in 2 hours on March 4th at a local gym. As a point of reference, one record for timed weight lifting from the Internet is 118 tons in an hour. As this record holder is 20 years younger than my dad, he is lowering the amount to 100 tons per hour, but extending the time to 2 hours, for a total of 200 tons.
The website for this effort is http://www.200TonsForVets.org/ where you can read more about what we are trying to do and donate to Fisher House. All donations are made directly to them and are tax deductible.

What a bargain - Where else can you help injured vets and see an old vet (his words - not mine!) put himself in the hospital?!
