$24.7 Million Bruce B. Downs Boulevard Construction Project Begins Soon
Breaking: Residents who want to find out more about the upcoming Bruce B. Downs widening project will get their chance.

TAMPA, FL — Construction on the next segment of the Bruce B. Downs Boulevard widening project is set to begin soon. Residents who want to learn more about what to expect in the New Tampa area as the widening commences will get their chance next week.
Hillsborough County has announced an informational meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 18. Set to take place at Wharton High School’s auditorium, 20150 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.
Attendees will find an open house format is on tap for the meeting. That means residents can review and comment on plans for the $24.7 million project.

The project spans Bruce B. Downs between Pebble Creek Boulevard and County Line Road. The plan is to widen the road from a four-lane divided highway to eight lanes. “The project will also provide a landscaped median, drainage improvements, pedestrian safety features, sidewalks, a multi-use path and an upgraded traffic signal system,” the county wrote in an email to media.
Construction is set to begin on the project this month, the county said. The plan is to have work completed by late 2018.
