Blind Fawn Rescued by Deputy
A quick-acting Hillsborough County deputy gets the credit for saving an injured fawn spotted along a roadway.

TAMPA, FL — A blind fawn spotted on a Hillsborough County roadway has a second chance at life thanks to a quick-acting deputy.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Cpl. Jeremy Davis spotted the distressed fawn on the side of Morris Bridge Road Saturday. Not willing to let the critter struggle on its own, he stopped to scoop it up and take it for care.
The fawn Davis found was blind, the sheriff’s office wrote on its Facebook page.

Davis took the little critter to the Bearss Animal Clinic on Florida Avenue for help.
Once there, veterinary staff jumped in to render aid to the baby deer. They also made the decision to stay late to give the creature the attention it needed, the sheriff's office noted.

The fawn is expected to stay at the clinic until it is given a clean bill of health. After that, it will be transferred to a local zoo, the sheriff's office said.
It is unclear what kind of injury the fawn had suffered.
This type of save is far from a first for the men and women at Tampa Bay area law enforcement agencies. Last year, for example, deputies stopped to save a tiny gray kitten that found itself trapped in a storm drain. Police in Lakeland also dove in not too long ago to save nine ducklings that had lost their way.
