Dog Survives After Getting Stuck In Grille Of Hit-And-Run Car

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL --A 4-pound dog has miraculously survived being hit by a car and then getting his head stuck in the moving car's front grille.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the tiny dog was struck by a Toyota Corolla on Monday. During the collision, the dog's head somehow became entangled in the front grille of the car. Not realizing what had happened, the driver of the Toyota continued down the road for a quarter mile before Deputy Ellana Oliver pulled it over and rescued the pup.

The dog, estimated to be about 3 years old, was taken to Senior Paws Sanctuary Rescue in Lee County on Monday where he is undergoing surgery for multiple pelvic fractures.

Despite the trauma, Senior Paws Sanctuary Rescue reported that the dog that sanctuary workers have named Dill is in stable condition and is expected to recover.

The sanctuary is accepting donations for Dill's medical bill, which is expected to be about $2,500.
