EPC Executive Director, Janet Dougherty, welcomed the newest members of the EPC Commission. Commissioner Harry Cohen, a native of Tampa, previously served on the Tampa City Council from 2011 – 2019 and has dedicated his life to a career in public service. Commissioner Gwendolyn Myers is a native and lifelong resident of Hillsborough County. She has been an advocate for improving transportation, affordable housing, and health care in the county. Ms. Dougherty invited the commissioners and their staff to tour our facility.
On behalf of the Directors and staff of the EPC, we look forward to working with Commissioners Myers and Cohen in the future. We also take this time to thank Commissioner Les Miller and Commissioner Sandra Murman for their dedicated service, support of our Agency and EPC's mission, as well as their advocacy for the environment. We wish them all the best with their future endeavors!

Hillsborough County Legislative Delegation
Ms. Dougherty spoke before the local Legislative Delegation last December. The EPC is committed to meeting with legislators in the year ahead to raise awareness of environmental issues and to inform them on the programs and services we provide at EPC.
Strategic Planning Session
EPC’s Senior Leadership met in December for Strategic Planning to evaluate EPC’s overall progress in 2020 and discussed actions we will take in 2021 to meet our long-term goals. They also took this opportunity to ensure that agency actions are aligned appropriately to achieve desired outcomes in the upcoming year.
EPC Gives Back to the Community
EPC staff provided over 200 gifts and $710 in cash donations that benefited the students at Redmonds Christian Migrant Association (RCMA), as well as the elderly through the Elves for Elder program. Furthermore, we raised over $4,000 which went towards food and meals for local families in need.
Thanks to the efforts of the Philanthropic Committee and the generosity of EPC staff during these most difficult times, smiles were brought to young and old alike and food was provided for those less fortunate this holiday season.
Hillsborough County Toastmasters Club Earns Top Honor for Sixth Time!
EPC staff have shown great leadership when it comes to hosting and serving as officers for the Hillsborough County Toastmasters Club. Their initiative, hard work and dedication has helped their club earn the Select Distinguished Club Award for the sixth consecutive year in a row!
Congratulations to everyone that made this award possible. The club meets virtually every other Wednesday and is open to outside individuals that may be interested in joining.
Staff Training Seminars
In order to provide exemplary customer service to the citizens of Hillsborough County, we believe all staff should understand the functions of other departments within our Agency.
As part of this effort, our first quarterly internal staff training was held in November. The session focused on the various functions and responsibilities performed by the Waste Division. It was an informative session that staff appreciated.
