Hillsborough County Seeks Nominations for Neighborhood Awards

Winners will be announced at the Hillsborough County Neighborhood Conference.

Tampa, FL – Once again, Hillsborough County is looking to honor neighborhoods who try to make their slice of the county a better place.

Residents of the county and its three municipalities (Tampa, Plant City and Temple Terrace) now can apply for Neighborhood Recognition Awards for events that happened during 2015.

The annual awards program acknowledges neighborhood organizations that are active in civic affairs and work together to improve and enrich their communities and the lives of their residents.

Neighborhood Recognition Awards applications are available in the Office of Neighborhood Relations, on the 28th floor of County Center, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., or at www.Hillsboroughcounty.org/onr. The deadline for nominations is Friday, July 8 at 5 p.m.

Nominations are being accepted in the following categories for events that occurred in 2015:

  • Best Beautification Project
  • Best Neighborhood Watch/Crime Prevention Program/Project
  • Best Environmental Program/Project
  • Best Communications – Newsletter, Website, Social Media
  • Most Successful Special Event
  • Most Successful Youth Program
  • Disaster Preparedness at the Neighborhood Level and CERT
  • “Come Back Kid,” recognizing programs that revitalized distressed neighborhoods

Applicants or nominees must be neighborhood, homeowner or civic associations or crime watch groups within Hillsborough County or Tampa, Plant City or Temple Terrace.

Winners will be announced at the 13th Annual Hillsborough County Neighborhoods Conference on Saturday, July 23 at the Sheraton Tampa East Hotel, 10221 Princess Palm Ave. Winners must be present to accept the awards.
