Missing Baby Located; Father Taken Into Custody

Deputies say the baby boy is in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.

TAMPA, FL -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has cancelled a missing child alert for a month-old baby boy. Sage Cooper was located by the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in Quincy.

The baby was unharmed and turned over to the custody of the Department of Children and Families. The father, 32-year-old David Cooper, was taken into custody on outstanding warrants and remains in the custody of the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office. Possible charges are pending on the baby's mother, Kaitlynn Lovel, 25.

Deputies put out the alert earlier Monday, April 23, after learning that Sage Cooper had been taken from his home at Oak Pride Court in New Tampa without appropriate authorization.
