Tampa Man Attempting To Lift 200 Tons in Two Hours For Veterans Charity
66-year-old Army Vet and Tampa native will attempt to lift 200 tons in 2 hours to encourage donations for The Fisher House Foundation

When you think about raising monies for charity, what comes to mind? A canned-food drive? Maybe a 5K downtown? Well, not so much for 66-year-old Tampa native, James Frick.
On March 4, the Army veteran will attempt to lift 200 tons in two hours, describing his efforts as a ‘marathon type’ session. Let’s break this down: 400,000 pounds total, 200,000 pounds per hour, 3,333 pounds per minute. We’ll say that’s pretty marathon oriented. So, why is James lifting the weight of almost two blue whales?
James is collecting donations for the Fisher House Foundation, a national nonprofit that serves our nation’s veterans, military personnel and their families. The Foundation is best known for their network of 70+ comfort homes where families of wounded, injured or ill service members can stay free of charge while their soldier undergoes treatment. This wonderful deed saves military families money and more importantly, keeps them close while a loved one is recovering. The Tampa Fisher House serves the families of Veterans at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital.

Through his stunning feat, Frick is hoping to raise both awareness and donations for Fisher House. If James pulls this off, he will set a new world record.
