Tampa Ranks No. 24 For Best Cities To Celebrate New Year's Eve

St. Petersburg ranked No. 67 for best cities to celebrate New Year's Eve, according to the personal finance website WalletHub.

TAMPA, FL - Tampa ranks in the Top 25 for best cities to celebrate New Year's Eve, according to the personal finance website WalletHub. In order to determine the best spots for celebrating New Year’s Eve, WalletHub compared the 100 most populated U.S. cities across three dimensions: entertainment and food, costs and safety and accessibility. Tampa's total score ranked it No. 24 - one spot behind Houston but just ahead of Nashville.

Tampa ranked 27th for entertainment and food; 35th for costs and 61st for safety and accessibility. "The data set ranges from legality of fireworks to average price of a New Year's Eve party ticket to forecasted precipitation for Dec. 31," according to the website. St. Petersburg ranked No. 67, with scores of 54 for entertainment and food; 51 for costs and 77 for safety and accessibility.

New York, Orlando and Atlanta topped the list of the best places to spend New Year's Eve followed by Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Chicago. Miami ranked eighth overall, along with ranking third for its nightlife options, second for restaurants per person and first in gourmet food stores per person.

The worst places to spend New Year's Eve were North Las Vegas, which finished dead last; Fremont, Calif.; Newark, Hialeah and Irving, Texas, according to the study.
