TAMPA, FL — Whether former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin managed to inspire voters to cast their ballots for Donald Trump in the Florida Presidential Preference Primary during her Monday Tampa visit remains to be seen. She did, however, become a muse, of sorts, for a Memphis musician.

Palin’s spirited speech about the protests surrounding Trump’s campaign events struck a chord with Dwayne Thomas Jr., who is known on stage as MonoNeon. The 25-year-old told Patch Palin’s cadence during her “rant” about the “petty punk ass little thuggery stuff” going on with protesters at Trump’s campaign events caught his attention.

MonoNeon said he heard the speech like Tina Fey might during a Palin skit on “Saturday Night Live,” adding that it had a comedic tone to it.

Running with the cadence and tone, MonoNeon sat down with his bass and created a video harmonizing with Palin’s speech. That video has since been published on Vimeo and YouTube.

MonoNeon is described as an “experimental musician” on his Wikipedia page and has numerous videos published on YouTube. He also reportedly worked on Ne-Yo’s fourth studio album.

Palin was in Florida Monday for Trump’s rally at the Tampa Convention Center. While protesters showed up in force outside the venue and a few were ejected from inside the rally, no major clashes were reported in Tampa. Palin was joined on stage by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi introduced Trump to the Tampa audience after making a formal endorsement of the Republican frontrunner.
