Miami-Dade Junkyard Catches Fire

Some 11 units were called to fight a blaze at a Miami-Dade junkyard, but there were no injuries.

OPA-LOCKA, FL — First responders were met with billowing smoke on Monday when fire broke out in a junkyard. The incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at 12740 NW Cairo Lane.

"When crews arrived, they observed a large column of black smoke coming from the scrap metal pile," accoridng to a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The spokesperson said that 11 units were called to fight the blaze, but that there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire was under investigation as of Monday night, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
