Miami-Dade Police Make Grim Discovery In Southwest

Miami-Dade police discovered a dead body inside a home in the 16100 block of SW 141 Avenue.

MIAMI, FL — Miami-Dade police discovered a dead body inside a home in the 16100 block of SW 141 Avenue, according to Detective Lee Cowart of the Miami-Dade Police Department. The grim discovery was made shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday.

"A relative called the police to check on the welfare of their loved one," Cowart said. "When uniform patrol officers arrived, they found a broken rear glass door. Officers entered the residence and conducted a cursory search, discovering a deceased person."

Cowart said police subsequently located a Mercedes sedan that is usually parked at the home and its registered owner.

"During the investigation, detectives received information that led them to search for a Mercedes sedan that was not on scene and according to family members, is normally parked at the residence," Cowart explained.

Police have not yet released the victim's identity.
