New Miami-Dade County Order Allows Parks To Remain Open Until 10 P.M.

Curfew hours are now 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

On Monday, September 14th, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez, issued Emergency Order 29-20 restating certain rules for operations of parks and other recreational spaces, boats, and golf courses. According to the new emergency order, Emergency Orders 05-20 and 21-20, as amended, are cancelled.

The new emergency order allows parks to remain open until 10 pm, and allows for limited competitive play, but not organized inter-team sports or league games.

Limited active uses are allowed, including organized sports team activities, but competitions and league play are not permitted, except in the case of tennis, racquetball, softball and baseball, and if masks are worn by all players. Other organized sports team competitions, league play and scrimmages are not permitted.

Bleachers shall not be open to spectators where organized sports team competitions and league play is permitted.

Concessions may operate in parks as long as social distancing guidelines are followed.

These mandates also apply to Palmetto Bay parks. Palmetto Bay Park hours are returning to their regular operating schedule effective Tuesday, September 15th.

  • Coral Reef Park: Monday to Sunday: Sunrise to Sundown
  • Tennis Center: Monday- Friday 8am to 12pm & 3pm to 10pm; Saturday & Sunday 8am to 8pm
  • Palmetto Bay Park: Monday - Friday; 8 am to 10 pm; Saturday 8am to 9pm; Sunday 8am to 8pm
  • Perrine Wayside (dog) Park: Monday to Sunday; 8 am to Sundown (except for the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays monthly when the park will open at noon)
  • Ludovici Park: 8am to 6pm; (subject to change to accommodate Library hours)
  • Thalatta Estate Park: Sunday - Thursday; 8 am to 5 pm; Friday - Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm.

In addition, the curfew hours have changed and are now from 11 pm to 6 am. This applies to all incorporated and unincorporated areas of Miami-Dade County, including Palmetto Bay. During the period of such curfew, no person shall make use of any street or sidewalk for any purpose, except police, fire rescue, first responder, medical, health care, media, and utility repair service personnel. In addition, the curfew shall not apply to persons:

  • Working at essential establishments.
  • Returning directly to their homes from work at essential establishments or going directly to work at essential establishments from their homes;
  • Making deliveries from essential establishments;
  • Walking their dogs within 250 feet of their residences; and
  • Traveling to and from any sporting event sponsored by the NCAA, Major League Baseball, or the National Football League, or any other national professional sports league or organization.
  • Traveling to or from any religious service.
