2017 Valspar Championship Events: What To Know Before You Go

PALM HARBOR, FL – The PGA Tour is once again stopping in the Tampa Bay area for the 2017 Valspar Championship in the beginning of March.

But before, during and after the tournament, a week’s worth of events will take place in conjunction with the tour stop. All events take place at the Innisbrook Resort, located at 36750 U.S. Highway 19 N. in Palm Harbor.

Here’s what area residents and visitors to the area need to know before you go to the events surrounding the 2017 Valspar Championship:

Sunday, March 5

Par4Miler – HSN Cares will host its second annual Par4Miler on Sunday, March 5 at 4 p.m. The 4-mile run/walk takes place on the cart paths of the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort – the same course the PGA golfers will play on the following weekend.

Participants will receive free pictures, a free T-shirt, finisher’s medals, a voucher for free Valspar paint, a discounted ticket to the Valspar Championship and access to the post-race party in the 18th Green hospitality suites.

The race entry fee is $35 until Wednesday, March 1 and $40 onsite. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Moffitt Cancer Center. For more information, visit https://www.par4miler.com/.

Tuesday, March 7

Professional Practice Rounds – Fans can enjoy PGA Professionals playing their practice rounds for the 2017 Valspar Championships on the Copperhead Course. Admission is free and gates open at 8 a.m.

Wednesday, March 8

Championship Pro-Am – A staple of all PGA Tour events, the Championship Pro-Am is a one-day tournament with groups consisting of ordinary golfers and PGA Tour professionals. A portion of proceeds from entry fees go toward the Valspar Championship’s sponsored charities.

2017 Bolts & Bulls Golf Classic – New this year to the Valspar Championship will be the Bolts & Bulls Golf Classic. Taking place on the Island Course, participants can play alongside Tampa Bay Lightning players and coaches, as well as PGA Tour players.

Thursday through Sunday attractions

Foodies – Aside from standard concessions, there will be three specialty food areas and a new venue offering wine and liquors along the course:

• Frenchy’s Pool Party: Located on the Pool Deck near the clubhouse
• The Valspar Food Truck Rally: Located by the 8th Green, features six area food trucks
• Earl of Sandwich: Located by the 16th Tee
• Grape & Grain: Located between the 9th and 10th holes, features air-conditioned indoor seating and an outdoor deck, William Hill Wines and fine spirits

McDonald’s Family Fun Zone – Located between the 8th and 9th holes, features a 16-foot-tall rock-climbing wall, monster putting green, free popsicles, Imagination Playground, arts and crafts, and games.

Valspar Chameleon Cove – Located at the 3rd Green, beach and relaxation zone featuring a 50-ton, 20-foot tall chameleon sand sculpture, colorful fan seating, concessions and a Maui Wowie Smoothie stand.

Valspar Color Experience 18th Green Expo – Located on the 18th Green, features 2017 Colors of the Year, DIY projects, Ask Val (a new digital tool to assist in choosing colors), putting and a fan photo booth

Michelob Ultra 19th Hole – Located on the 18th Green

Pinch-A-Penny Birdies for the Brave Patriots’ Outpost – Located on the 16th Green, fan section for active duty, retired or veteran U.S. military personnel with proper identification, along with one guest. Open 8:30 a.m. until the last group on Thursday and Friday and from 10:30 a.m. until the last group on Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday, March 9

Friday, March 10

2017 Valspar Championship Second Round – Gates open at 6 a.m.

Celebrity Chef Ming Tsai – Celebrity Chef Ming Tsai will host a cooking demonstration and a meet and greet at 1 p.m. in the Grape & Grain food zone.

Saturday, March 11

2017 Valspar Championship Third Round – Gates open at 7 a.m.

Celebrity Chef Ming Tsai – Celebrity Chef Ming Tsai will host a cooking demonstration and a meet and greet at 10 a.m. in the Grape & Grain food zone.

Valspar LIVE! – Toby Keith will perform live for all Saturday ticketholders (including the Good Any One Day ticket) on Saturday, March 11 from 7 to 8:15 p.m. The concert will take place on the Osprey Driving Range, adjacent to the 14th Fairway.

Sunday, March 12

Final Round Valspar Championship – Gates open at 7 a.m.

Monday, March 13

Monday After Challenge – Play the Copperhead Course, the course the Pros play.
