Cinco De Mayo is Sunday, May 5. The holiday recognizes the Battle of Puebla in 1862. It was originally a time for Mexican Americans living in the West to celebrate their freedom during the Civil War.

The day has since turned into a time to honor Mexican culture, including the refreshing beverage that is the Margarita.

Here are a few places to celebrate Cinco De Mayo 2013 near Palm Harbor:

Mixers Bar & Grill - Normally, an Irish bar, Mixer's will offer drink specials and Mexican food on Cinco De Mayo. A DJ will also be spinning music throughout the night. Address: 3430 East Lake Road in Palm Harbor. For more information call 813-787-2710.

East Lake Woodlands Country Club - This family friendly Cinco De Mayo Fiest celebration will include live music, caricature artist, Margarita bar and Mexican food galore. The fun starts at 1 p.m. Address: 1055 East Lake Pkwy in Oldsmar. For more information call 727-784-7270.

Casa Tina - If you don't mind driving, head over a short distance to Dunedin where Casa Tina will be celebrating Cinco De Mayo all weekend. On May 4 and May 5, the restaurant will host a street fiesta with live music, salsa dancing a paper mache puppet parade. The street party begins at 5 p.m. Address: 369 Main St. in Dunedin.
