Covid-19 comes with a high price tag

What is the cost of a pandemic and it's denial?

Deaths U.S. 282,000; Deaths Florida 19,176 over 9 months
Vietnam War 47,434 battle deaths over 9 years

Hospitalizations with Covid-19 U.S. 101,276 (current)
U.S. YTD 585,676 (not all states report) Florida YTD 57,185
What is happening is pretty simple: As hospitals start to fill up, less-sick patients get sent home because there isn’t a bed available for them anymore. Even people who show up at the hospital with heart disease and other serious ailments will be treated and asked to go home and “monitor,” as doctors keep the remaining beds only for the very sickest patients. Shain Zundel had a brain abscess and recently waited a day in Missouri before finally finding a bed in a larger facility 375 miles away, in Iowa.

Oh, and the Covid-19 cost $:
Patients aged 21 to 40 paid the most for these hospitalizations, on average billed $980,821. The over 60 age group paid the least – about $460,989 (Medicare negotiates at a lower rate).

Humans have a tendency to look at the world through their own experiences. If people have not been touched by a Covid-19 death or serious hospitalization, like many of us have, it’s hard to understand the speed at which this virus can destroy. Even if recovery happens, the short/long term effects can be devastating both physically and economically, not just on the individual, but on their entire family.

We are not all in the same boat, BUT WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME STORM.
Some are in yachts, some small boats, some canoes and some are drowning (paraphrased from Damian Barr, April 21, 2020). Be kind to everyone you can.
