A talented band from Crystal Beach was center stage this week in Tarpon Springs.
Every month, a different band is featured at the Music on the Beach series at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs. June's artist was the Crystal Beach String Band, a well-liked group from Palm Harbor who performed Thursday evening.
The band say they originally got together "to play some music and have fun." But since that was back in 2007, it might be safe to say the vision has evolved into more than just a hobby.
Comprised of five members, the Crystal Beach String Band includes:Â
- Elan Chalford, violin and vocals
- Dennis Devine, lead guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, flute and vocals
- Greg Dobbins, banjo and vocals
- Sharon Naumann, autoharp and vocals
- James Rhodes, guitars and vocals
Scheduled bands for the remainder of the series are as follows:
- Doyle's Revenge, July 25
- Little Big Show, August 22
- Roadhouse Band, September 19
- Triple Haze with Nathalie Hernandez & Joe Rhodes, October 17
- Lil' Pearl and the Big Boys, November 14
A shuttle service is offered from Tarpon Springs High School (1411 Gulf Road) starting at 6 p.m. but there is also parking available along the approach to Sunset Beach on Gulf Rd.Â
