Epiphany 2013 Schedule of Events
Planning on heading to Tarpon Springs for Epiphany? The cross dive is one of many events planned for the annual Greek Orthodox celebration this weekend.
Although folks travel from all over the world to witness the diving for the cross at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox's Theophany Epiphany in Tarpon Springs each year, there are a lot more Epiphany-related events scheduled to take place over the weekend.
Saturday
At 12 p.m., a blessing of the fleet will take place on the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks.

Doors to the Epiphany Celebration Dance will open at 7 p.m. at the Spanos-Pappas Community Center. Tickets are limited and run at $25 for adults and $10 for kids (12 and under). Live music from Zivaeri and Ziyia will be filling the air. Proceeds are to benefit the St. Nicholas Cathedral.Â

At 8 a.m., the Orthos and Divine Liturgy will begin at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
Around 11:30 a.m. inside the cathedral, the Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta will bless the waters.Â
Between 12-12:30 p.m. a procession from the cathedral to Springs Bayou will commence. The dove bearer will then release a white dove, which symbolizes the Holy Spirit before a cross is thrown into Springs Bayou where Greek Orthodox male youths will then dive after it.
From 12:30-6 p.m. the Epiphany Glendi will be held at St. Nicholas Community Center Spanos-Pappas Hall, 348 N. Pinellas Ave. Entrance to the Glendi is free of charge. The Glendi has been moved to this location because of the possibility of rain.Â
Event Parking
There are two public parking lots located at 1) Lemon St. and Safford Ave. and 2) Safford Ave. and Orange St.
Street parking is permitted as marked.
