Funeral Tuesday for Bishop Angelo William Nicolaro of Palm Harbor
Angelo William Nicolaro, 72, of Palm Harbor, was bishop at the Holy Apostles Charismatic Church in Dunedin. He drowned on July 3, 2013, after getting caught in a rip current off Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 9Â for Angelo William Nicolaro, 72, of Palm Harbor, who drowned after getting caught in a rip current off Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina.
Nicolaro, who was bishop at the Holy Apostles Charismatic Church in Dunedin, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013.  Rescuers responded to a report about swimmers in distress at about 11:30 a.m. that day, according to North Carolina news website starnewsonline. When rescuers arrived, Nicolaro's adult son had made it to shore, but his father was still in the water.
“The son stated that there was a rip current, apparently some changing currents, and they got into trouble,” Brunswick County Emergency Management Director Anthony Marzano told starnewsonline.Â

Rescuers found Nicolaro, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Brunswick Novant Medical Center. Marzano said Nicolaro and his family were on vacation.
Nicolaro had just celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife Mary Ann at the family's annual reunion, according to the Tampa Bay Times.Â

He is survived by his wife, five children and 19 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Holy Apostles Church, 1605 Pinehurst Road in Dunedin, according to his obituary on the Sylvan Abbey website.
