Palm Harbor toddler Ireland Nugent is recovering at home after undergoing a ninth surgery Thursday morning.
The young amputee, who will celebrate her third birthday on August 20, had surgery to have bone spurs removed from her left and right legs. Nugent's ankles were severed in a freak accident on April 10, 2013 when her father, Jerry Nugent, backed over her with a riding lawn mower.
Days after the accident, surgeons amputated Ireland's legs just below her knees. The surgery on Thursday removed bone spurs that had grown at the ends of her legs.
