Palm Harbor Barber Performs Magic Tricks for Clients

A Palm Harbor resident is creating magic at his barber shop in East Lake.

Ron Murphy offers an entertaining twist with his haircuts; magic tricks.

His devoted clients drive to East Lake from as far as Plant City to get styled and entertained by this barber who has a passion for magic. 

"I'm always doing magic in the shop," said the Pittsburgh native.

Take one step inside his shop in East Lake Woodlands Shopping Center and you'll see just how much this 70-year-old barber likes magic. Autographed photos of famous magicians line the walls. Murphy has a story to go with every photo. 

This barber of 53 years has been practicing magic since he was a kid.  But, don't expect Murphy to wear a black cape, put you in a box and cut you in half during your trip to his barber shop. He prefers to show his clients other types of tricks.

"Usually card tricks, because it's easiest to do," said Murphy, who keeps a green, felt-covered tabletop handy for his tricks.

You should also know that Murphy doesn't automatically show clients his magic tricks when he gives haircuts, you'll need to ask. If you do, we guarantee the tricks will put a smile on your face.
