PGA Tour Tampa Bay Championship: Play Begins Today at Innisbrook

Beginning Thursday, Palm Harbor's Innisbrook Golf Resort will be the center of attention in the golfing world as the PGA Tour's Tampa Bay Championship begins. The tournament, which will be held March 14-17, will be broadcast around the world.

156 golfers will compete on Innisbrook's Copperhead Course.  The defending champion is Luke Donald. (Read more: Field Announced for PGA Tour's Tampa Bay Championship) 

"Fans can expect the very best from the PGA Tour. We're looking forward to having everyone back this year and putting on another great show for Tampa Bay and Innisbrook. It's a place the pros love coming to play," said Kevin Krisle, Director of Copperhead Charities.

The Tampa Bay Championship is organized by the not-for-profit organization, Copperhead Charities Inc., which is a volunteer group of Tampa Bay community leaders known as "The Copperheads". The Copperheads have been helping Tampa Bay charities through professional golf for 30 years. This year's charitable partner is the Moffitt Cancer Center.

The tournament is one of Innisbrook's biggest annual events and attracts locals as well as golf fans from outside the area. All kids 15 and under will be admitted free of charge with one paying adult. All members of the U.S. military, active and retired will be admitted to the tournament free of charge, along with up to three guests.

"It's certainly a great opportunity for all of us who live here and call Tampa Bay home, to come out and watch the world's greatest golfers do what they do best and that's play golf," said Krisle.
